Pope John Paul II
The Pope died at the weekend. Hmm, I could write a lot about this, as I'm anti-religion of all kinds, but I'm going to restrict myself to two points.
1. The newspapers all have headlines like
"May angels guide you to paradise"
"gone to his final resting place"
"at peace with God"
This is of course, complete rubbish. There is no god, no heaven, no angels. He was just an ordinary man, and now he is dead.
2. I would like an end to all religion, and the catholic church is just one of the many. During the last 20 years JPII has restricted the usage of contraception which hasn't helped the AIDS epidemic in Africa. He has also been anti abortion and anti homosexuality, whilst not making a firm stand against the paedophile priests in his own church.

Yes Dave, my second point was actually inspired somewhat by yours, sorry for not linking to it initially.
